Smart Thermostat Rebates by State: How to Find Yours

By Saima · Updated October 24, 2026

Smart thermostat rebates come mostly from utilities, so they vary by where you live, and they change often. Instead of listing amounts that could be outdated by the time you read them, here is how to find the current offer for your address.

Where to look

  1. ENERGY STAR Rebate Finder. Enter your ZIP code to see offers on qualifying products: energystar.gov/rebate-finder.
  2. Your utility’s website. Search your utility’s name plus “smart thermostat rebate.” This is usually the most current source.
  3. DSIRE. The Database of State Incentives for Renewables & Efficiency lists state and local programs: dsireusa.org.
  4. Retailer and manufacturer promotions. Check the seller’s page before you buy.

What to check before buying

  • Whether your exact model qualifies.
  • Whether the discount is instant at checkout or a mail-in or online claim.
  • Deadlines, limits per household and proof-of-purchase rules.
  • Whether the utility offers bill credits for enrolling in a demand-response program. These often require signing up.

Next step
